In the distance, Colorado granite stone mountains with dark aventurine forest, surround a raw aquamarine lake. Furthest down the slope, a young racer crouches low as he bursts through granite pine trees. The snowboarder in the center, leisurely drags a hand along the snow, while the skier to the right pauses to plan his turns through the steep, narrow mogul field. The girl boarder at the top gracefully catches some air, while getting out of the way of the daredevil skier, leaping off the cliff.
Ski Country is set on a large piece of Messalina sandblasted textured marble tile and more than 26 different stones, gems, crystals and shells were used in it’s creation. The sky is crushed blue quartz, blue calcite, sodalite, blue lapis, and afghanite. The snow is crushed quartz, white jade and marble.
Goggles were created from iridescent shell. Green tourmaline needle made perfect ski poles and black limestone, boots, gloves, skis & snowboard. Their faces are cut from Antique Capri honed Travertine. Black granite, white marble and blue sodalite were used for their helmets. The trees are carved from green granite.
The girl boarder has honey calcite hair, purple agate top and lavender lepidolite pants. The daredevil jumper is wearing an orange calcite jumper with crushed black tourmaline stripes. The mogul skier has a dark green jasper sweatshirt, grey granite pants and hat. Crushed red jade brim and white howlite pompom decorate his hat. The boarder in the middle is wearing a turquoise agate hoodie over green serpentine pants. The racer boy is sporting orange calcite jacket over blue sodalite pants.
This unique stone mosaic is the perfect artwork to beautify any mountain home.
